I'd imagine somewhere up in Heaven God is shouting down to Earth "work- life balance!!". Get your hustle & grind on, but get your rest on too. And most certainly get your prayer life on. I think this is where most of us miss the mark. We've been so conditioned to set goals & work hard to get to the destination that we somehow overlook the beauty of the journey. The walk with God is the best part in my opinion but most of us overlook it. I suppose there's something nostalgic about a "holy hustle". Just think about it Adam & Eve were heirs to the throne. All they literally needed to do was tend to the garden & not eat from one forbidden tree. Otherwise God took care of them economically.
Look how misconstrued we've got things today. We put so much emphasis on the grind. True enough God does say that if a man doesn't work he shall not eat. But then he also points out that the birds, flowers, etc. are straight chilling not worrying about their provision from day to day. So then, why are we?
1 Thessalonians 3:10
"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat."
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
I suppose by the world's standard goals give our lives direction. But the bible is very clear in stating that God's got us covered on all fronts. And we all know that the steps of a good man or woman are ordered by the Lord. So why are we even sweating the small stuff?
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way."
However, let me be very clear & say I'm not condoning lazy, no initiative type behavior. God expects us to work but as Christians we are to work in conjunction with our faith. We certainly must do our part, that's our hustle but then we must trust God to do the rest. In other words we shouldn't be out hustling God. I think when we don't seek his direction for our lives we will literally work ourselves into the grave with absolutely nothing to show for it. That is, nothing as it relates to the kingdom of God. Of course we will have accumulated a bunch of stuff on Earth that we can't take with us. But in terms of being effective for the kingdom this kind of hustle yields nothing.
If we want to be fruitful in kingdom business. We must learn a new kind of hustle i call it a "holy hustle". This is a mindset that says I'm gonna work hard doing my part, stay prayed up & connected to the source (God) & trust him to bring his plan to completion in my life. And I'm gonna relax & enjoy the ride. Its just that simple. As a society we complicate things. We make life harder than it really needs to be. Trust me I did it for years myself, so I get it. But when you learn to relinquish all power to him & give all glory to his name your hustle game gets that much tighter because you've got the King of King & Lord of Lords backing you. There's no greater feeling in the world. So girlfriend I say get your hustle on. Because with the right perspective & the right direction you're bound to revolutionize the world. So ladies, where are all of my "holy hustlers" at? Can I get an Amen!!
As you go forward in your daily journey I extend love & peace to each of you. I pray that you find your "it" and that you OWN IT. That the chains of this world be broken off of you & that you walk in the light that God intended you to walk in.
With dedication & servitude
